Colin Doerr

Colin Doerr is a senior executive with over 20 years of experience in international education, academic partnerships, and strategic leadership. He is currently the Principal of Global Matters Consultancy, advising on internationalization and partnership development.

Previously, as Director of External Relations at the British Columbia Council for International Education (BCCIE), Colin led provincial international education strategies and built partnerships in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. His work also advanced reconciliation through internationalization and indigenization.

Colin’s career includes roles at Canada World Youth and Simon Fraser University, focusing on mobility, cross-cultural communication, and experiential education. He is a Doctor of Education candidate at the University of British Columbia and holds a Master of Education from Simon Fraser University.

Colin is passionate about fostering global connections and enhancing international education.

Led the development and establishment of the Western Canada Mobility Network (WCMN). The aim of the network was to increase overall study abroad opportunities and support student diversity via field schools, short-term mobility, semester exchanges and hybrid opportunities while lowering systemic barriers for students that traditionally do not engage in studying abroad opportunities
